WELCOME NOTE

National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh is a not-for-profit organization established in April 1999 at Dhaka, Bangladesh. This Organization is the first of its kind in Bangladesh. It is dedicated to Prevention, Treatment, Education and Research on liver diseases with special emphasis on viral hepatitis. The foundation is a member of World Hepatitis Alliance (WHA), Geneva, since its inception.

The foundation also working for control of non-communicable liver diseases in Bangladesh. It is a member of the Bangladesh Network for NCD control and prevention (BNNCP).NLFB also a member of   the International Association of Hepatitis Task Forces (IAHTF), USA

The mission of the foundation: To raise mass public awareness on prevention of all kinds of liver diseases. To create facilities for the treatment of liver diseases with affordable cost and free for the poor. To make advocacy and coordination with the Government &non government organizations regarding the issues of viral hepatitis and other liver diseases. To establish a center of excellence for Prevention, Treatment, Education and Research on Liver diseases in Bangladesh.

The vision of the foundation: To minimize the suffering of patients living with liver diseases. Reduce the disease burden to a negligible level and ensure treatment for all. Elimination of viral hepatitis in Bangladesh is our ultimate goal.

How we work: NOhep campaign among the common people at the grass root level. Created “NOhep network Bangladesh”, which includes prevention and awareness building drive in 64 districts of the country. NOhep drives among the Rohingya refugees. “Find the missing million” campaigns for detecting the undiagnosed viral hepatitis patients, especially among underprivileged and indigenous community.

Foundation raises voice against Stigma and Discrimination, Myths and Misconceptions about viral hepatitis. Provide free treatment of disadvantaged young viral hepatitis patients. Organize the Regional Hepatitis Days for decentralization of awareness programmes. Launched the first Bengali Hepatitis awareness Apps (Hepatitis: Janun ebong valo thakun) know Hepatitis & Stay well. Conducts free hepatitis B screening and vaccination of orphan children of Government children homes. Conducts hepatitis B & C patient’s conferences.Created Zakat Fund for treatment of underprivileged young individuals and children affected by hepatitis B and C. Free hepatitis B and C screening of pregnant woman and provide hepatitis B Immunoglobulin and vaccine to newborns of hepatitis B positive mothers. Making Hospital for Liver Diseases at Divisional Headquarter, Sylhet.
